American Bead Head

I almost see how I could tie this one.  A chrome or silver bead.  Red thread.  Rubber legs.

The Red feather for the shell back you may have to risk going to prison for since it's illegal to pop cardinals with your bb-gun.

Also not sure how to get blue and red pheasant tips.

Rubber legs?  I love them!  AND, a friend of mine in college showed me a neat trick.  Buy some cheap bungee chords at the dollar store.  Then cut the outer fabric off and there's all the rubber legs you would ever want or need for a million years (give or take).

How would you tie this one?

Anyone have any other neat money saving tricks for acquiring materials?

American Fly

My apologizes if someone already has a pattern by the same name.  Maybe I should have called it the "Freedom Fly" or something?

Anyway it's not a real fly pattern (yet) just me wanting to paint something patriotic and of course one of the great things about fishing flies is that they are very impressionistic.  So there is representation involved but the colors, patterns, textures are all available for play time.

Speaking of "Play Time"....

One of the things I miss the most about grade school were the art projects associated with the holidays.  Of course I don't know WHY I miss that since I still do it.

Happy Independence Day!
